For Driller, whose heart was as big as the heavens~

If you bury him in this spot, the secret of which you must already have,
he will come to you when you call; come to you over the far, dim pastures of death.
And though you ride other living horses through life,
they shall not shy at him, nor resent his coming.
For he is yours, and he belongs there.

People may scoff at you, who see no lightest blade of grass bent by his footfall,
who hear no nicker pitched too fine for insensitive ears.
People who may never really love a horse.
Smile at them then, for you shall know something that is hidden from them
and which is well worth the knowing...

The one place to bury a horse is in the heart of his master.

Eulogy Book
Good-bye 2007
Goodbye 2005
Goodbye 2006

It is only fitting that tribute should be paid to every horse which passes through our lives. Be they the object of celebrity, a great athlete, or a beloved companion, they are all deserving of respect. In consideration of this, please feel free to submit the name of the horse and a short one line tribute. I will post them in the Eulogy Book as time allows. They do not need to be a famous horse, but simply one that meant something to someone and has gone on to another place.

Somewhere...Somewhere in time's Own Space
There must be some sweet pastured place
Where creeks sing on and tall trees grow
Some Paradise where horses go,
For by the love that guides my pen
I know great horses live again.

~Stanley Harrison

Maracaibo

 Stallion, 1/2 brother to Bushfire

Maracaibo had a terrible fate and was given to friends for 1,000 due to a suspensory injury.  The man was dying and sold off the farm's assets, including Maracaibo, who was in turn sold for 10,000 to a trainer in Philadelphia.  Maracaibo was then sent back to racing and raced twice.  The second time, he broke down and was on the brink of being euthanized.  Trainer Jimmy Noble went to save him and he did.  Jimmy took him home and nursed him for 2 years.  Maracaibo was  then sent to stud in October 2o05.   The farm took real good care of him.  He was breeding a mare, and upon dismount, fractured his bad leg and was euthanized.  I love this stallion.  He was aggressive and would hurt you.  Bite isn't the word.  If you looked into his eye, you could see a gentle horse.  He was abused at a young age and he was just defending himself.

Rest in Peace Kye,

Stacy, your former Groom and Assistant

For Gabriel

i carry your heart with me

i carry your heart with me(i carry it in
my heart)i am never without it(anywhere
i go you go,my dear; and whatever is done
by only me is your doing,my darling)
i fear
no fate(for you are my fate,my sweet)i want
no world(for beautiful you are my world,my true)
and it's you are whatever a moon has always meant
and whatever a sun will always sing is you

here is the deepest secret nobody knows
(here is the root of the root and the bud of the bud
and the sky of the sky of a tree called life;which grows
higher than the soul can hope or mind can hide)
and this is the wonder that's keeping the stars apart

i carry your heart(i carry it in my heart)
